For the last ten years steve has completely dominated the UK sport climbing scene with a string of first ascents and repeats unmatched by any other. His recent ascent of the route ‘overshadow’ is without doubt the hardest sport route anywhere in Britain and reachedthe national press and prime time TV news.

Climbing for over 30 years Steve’s background is in the more adventurous side of climbing though recently he has excelled in the physical area of the sport devoting his life to exploring the limits of what is possible to scale using only the tiniest of holds forfingers and toes.

His quest for the limit has taken him to all corners of the globe experiencing many types of terrain from New Zealand to Greenland and from three metre high boulder problems to 1000 metre vertical walls. Constantly pushing standards Steve was the first Britain to onsight F8b and then F8b+, climbed the first F9a in England and has been British Indoor Champion four times. Despite this he still feels he has a long way to go!

Steve is an excellent and down to earth communicator, and is able to pass on what it takes to maintain the incredible levels of motivation, dedication and focus needed to climb at the very top, making him a great speakers for both schools and business.

Steve McClure is one of the best rock-climbers in the world, having climbed numerous new routes at the grade of f9a, and onsighted up to f8b+. Despite being better known for his sport climbing achievements, you might also find him wiggling in wires on a big wallin Greenland or on a local Peak district crag.

Steve is well known for his modest, approachable attitude, and has the rare talent of being able to make the experience he has obtained relevant in motivating others to improve, be they aspiring climbers or a class full of Year 11 students about to embark upon their GCSEs, or doing one to one coaching with climbers pushing their own limits.
